IELTS Score 5.0~5.5 Tips

The 5.5 IELTS score is the minimum score required by educational institutions for students who want to go on a foundation (university preparation) course rather than a regular university course. It is possible to enter a foundation course when you achieve an average score of 5.0 to 5.5. However, note that students must pass English courses or submit IELTS band 6.0-6.5 to study in regular university programs in the U.K. or Australia after completing the foundation.

The IELTS overall score of 7.0~7.5 or higher is required for admission to a postgraduate program in the UK or Australia or an undergraduate program at renowned universities (i.e. Cambridge or Oxford). Most prestigious schools require an average score of 7.0 where a score for each language section (Reading, Listening, Writing, and Speaking) is 6.5 or higher. It is necessary to prepare yourself for 7.0 strategically in this case as well.
