Things you need to remember as you enter the speaking exam room

TIP 1 : Sound more natural

maintain the flow of speech rather than stressing every single word

  • Practice sample answers while paying close attention to spacing between words
TIP 2 : Speak within the time limit

If your answer is too short or too long, you will lose marks

  • Answer 1-2 minute for a sentence in Part 1 (specific topic)
  • Stick to 2-minute-long answer in Part 2 after 1-minute preparation
  • Answer 2-3 sentences in Part 3 for the best efficiency
TIP 3 : Try not to give too much details

Avoid giving too much off-topic information

  • Organize your answer related to the topic when answering with personal examples or opinions
TIP 4 : Use appropriate vocabulary

Use phrasal verbs and Idiomatic expressions

  • Avoid formal linking words that are frequently used in writing
  • Avoid using broken English
