What is IELTS?(International English Language Testing System)
IELTS is an internationally accredited English language test co-sponsored by Cambridge ESOL, the British Council, and IDP Australia, and over one million candidates take the test every year for higher education application and immigration to English spoken countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, etc.
IELTS Score 5.0~5.5 Tips
The 5.5 IELTS score is the minimum score required by educational institutions for students who want to go on a foundation (university preparation) course rather than a regular university course. It is possible to enter a foundation course when you achieve an average score of 5.0 to 5.5. However, note that students must pass English courses or submit IELTS band 6.0-6.5 to study in regular university programs in the U.K. or Australia after completing the foundation.
IELTS Score 6.0 Tips
Band 6.0 or higher is the score required when entering art-related universities (Saint Martins, Chelsea, or LCF BA) or when transferring to a diploma program in humanities and sciences. It is the score at which many students hoping to have art-related majors aim and that most students preparing for studying abroad hope to receive.
IELTS Score 6.5 or Higher
The IELTS overall score of 6.5 is required for admission to a postgraduate program or an undergraduate program in humanities and sciences. Most prestigious universities require an average score of 6.5 with a score for each language section (Reading, Listening, Writing, and Speaking) being 6.0 or higher. Even in this case, it is necessary to prepare yourself for 6.5 strategically.
IELTS Score 7.0 or Higher
The IELTS overall score of 7.0~7.5 or higher is required for admission to a postgraduate program in the UK or Australia or an undergraduate program at renowned universities (i.e. Cambridge or Oxford). Most prestigious schools require an average score of 7.0 where a score for each language section (Reading, Listening, Writing, and Speaking) is 6.5 or higher. It is necessary to prepare yourself for 7.0 strategically in this case as well.
